Free NRA Membership
Join the Chester Rod and Gun Club, Inc. and receive a complimentary (Free) one-year membership to the NRA (National Rifle Association) when you are accepted as a new member of CRGC!
This offer is for new members only. Requirements and additional information is available at the Club.
To become a member of the CRGC you must perform the following 6 steps:
Get Acquainted with CRGC:
01.Survey our website. We welcome questions. Sit in on one of our monthly Club Meetings before joining if you wish, but new members can only be accepted in at very beginning of the meeting, so be sure to submit your membership application to the staff before the meeting begins.
If you have any questions about membership in the CRGC, please feel free to send an email with your questions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Membership Form and Fee Structure:
02.Please print and fill out this membership application:
New Membership and Renewals:
- ALL NEW MEMBERS: There is a $65 one-time "initiation fee" for new members, but please be aware that if you ever let your membership lapse, this fee will be required again to re-join. We require all new members to be a member in "good standing" of the NRA. If you are not a member of the NRA, CRGC will provide you with a FREE one year membership to the NRA when you first join CRGC.
New Members also pay a membership fee of $125 (whether single or whole family). The membership fee is only $75 for Seniors aged 65+. If you join any time between January 1st through the third Monday of September we do not pro-rate or discount the annual membership fee. If you join after September 30th your membership fee covers the remainder of the current year AND the full 12 months of the following year.
RENEWAL MEMBERS: The "Initiation Fee" is not required. The membership fee is $125 (whether single or whole family), and the membership fee is $75 for Seniors aged 65+, or $65 for full time students in high school or college who are eligible (see the section on TEENS/STUDENTS below). To renew your membership, you can either mail in your signed renewal application including a check for the required renwal fee (note that it must be received by December 31st), or bring your signed application and renewal fee in person to the club at the December meeting. - WORK HOURS DISCOUNT FOR RENEWING MEMBERS ONLY:
If regular full dues members have documented that they have performed "work hours" for the previous year, and they submit the required work hours form on time, then they have earned a $5 per hour discount, up to a maximum $30 discount on renewal. The "membership service" or "work hours" usually consists of some organized and supervised maintenance jobs on the grounds or helping to set up, run, or clean-up after an event. There are always plenty of Membership Service Time opportunities. Our members currently on our Student or Senior plans are eligible to earn a maximum of a $20 discount (by $5 per hour volunteer work during the previous year) when they renew their membership. - TEENS / STUDENTS: At the end of the calendar year in which a teen "family member" turns 18, they must buy their own membership for the following calendar year. No "New Member" initiation fee is required from teens who convert from under a family plan to their own membership. If the 18 year old is still a full time student in high school or college, the lower student rate of $65 per year applies. Like all members, students can leverage the Work Hours Discount mentioned above to reduce costs.
- ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY: Current members or Associate Members that enlist in active military service will remain as members in good standing and will not be required to pay annual dues until they are released from active service. This affects current members of the CRGC that are on active duty. This prevents you from having to pay membership fees while you are on active duty defending our freedoms. If you are on active duty, please indicate this option on your renewal form.
Attend a members meeting to Join the CRGC:
03.Regular Members Meetings occur on the third Monday of the Month, but always check the current calendar for confirmation of date and time. Please arrive about a half hour early in order to meet our club President and our Membership Secretary who will accept your application form and your fees by check only please. When the meeting formally begins (usually at 7:30pm) you will be asked to wait in the back room for a few minutes while the rest of the Membership reviews your application. Then you will be brought back into the meeting and asked to announce your name. Spouses and children are most welcome but they are not required to attend the Members Meeting in which you join up because they will be included under your membership.
Attend a new member orientation:
04.New members are expected to attend an Orientation meeting and tour of the ranges. This usually takes an hour or two and usually is held on the Saturday following the meeting at which the new member joined. The exact date and time will be announced during the Members Meeting in which you join CRGC. (If you cannot make this Saturday morning after joining meeting, then special arrangements can be made for a mutually convenient day & time.)
The orientation session is to help new members:
- gain an understanding of our safety procedures
- get introduced to the various facilities and equipment
- get an outline of the many events and programs offered
- get a review of the range rules, along with a printed copy
- learn how our "Guest" policy works
- learn more about how our membership led club operates
- get any questions answered
- get your access badge (albeit without indoor range access)
To gain access to our Indoor range:
05.Membership is based on the calendar year. Members must pass a quick training and safety qualification test administered by a CRGC range officer in order to gain the ability to access the indoor range.
- For unsupervised indoor pistol / .22 rimfire rifle range access, you must pass the firearms test.
- For unsupervised indoor archery range access, you must pass the archery test.
Don't worry -- they tests are simple rudimentary handling and firing tests, and are not "marksmanship" tests. Soon after passing the test(s), the computerized access will be updated so your magnetic stripe badge will allow you 24-7 access. Note that during some scheduled events and/or meetings use of the indoor range may be suspended.
Your membership card must be signed off by the respective range officer before using these INDOOR ranges. Guests are allowed access to the Indoor Range with Gold Card Members, according to the Range Rules and By-Laws in effect.
Miscellaneous Special Event Fees:
06.Some events present additional costs to the club, so fees are applied for some but not all special events held throughout the year. These fees are subject to change at any time.
