Forum "Product Review" section?
« on: July 07, 2011, 08:31:47 PM »
I would like to suggest that we we have a section in the forum where members can post reviews of products, guns, ammo, etc. that they have had good (or bad) experiences with. Anything related to our sport.
I find these types of posts helpful, and I like to learn from the experiences of others.
What say y'all?

Hi Joe,

Your idea is welcome!

We can either the current boards for such reviews, for example, post handgun reviews in the handgun board, rifle reviews in the rifle board,  or create a separate area.

I would suggest that if we use current hardware boards (rifle, handgun, etc.) for such reviews that members start the subject line of each such review post with the word "Review:" and then enter the subject of the review, as example subject: "Review - Ruger 1911".

I'm happy to create another board to contain only reviews, but some members think we already have too many boards now, so I prefer to do what the majority of members would like.

What do you (and others) think?

Hi Rich-
Using existing boards with "Review" in the subject line sounds like a good idea.
I have a particular interest in gun cleaning products, chemicals, rods, etc.  There is a myriad of products out there, and it would be interesting to find out what others are using and why.
Where would be a good fit for that stuff?
Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Try putting them in the appropriate hardware section.

For example, if you want to discuss cleaning a handgun, put the  cleaning review in the handgun board. Of course we know that cleaning products can be used in both rifles and handguns, but sometimes with different applications, each person may have a favorite product.

If we get enough interest, we can either create a 'gunsmithing and cleaning' board, or as you originally suggested, create a 'review' board.

I'm open to all ideas.

Please DO NOT create a Gunsmithing board.  Bill H will fill it up and then some poor unsuspecting, unknowing soul will screw up his guns as badly as Bills.    ::)

Hi Colin (and other "Badfellows")
Any member of the club that doesn't regularly read the CRGC forum doesn't know what they are missing!
They could probably stop making Prozac if people would drop in here once in a while.
Don't think so? Just re-read your "FFL" thread.  :D
Thanks for the friendly banter!
Joe
