Winter Indoor Archery League
The CRGC indoor archery program is a joint effort between Lamprey River Bowhunters and Chester Rod & Gun Club. The idea rose out of desperation amongst the Lamprey River Bowhunters losing their indoor facilities. At the time, the Brentwood Recreational Center was being sold to the town of Brentwood. The town's plan was to give the existing building a complete makeover which included the basement area where, every winter for 10 years, the Lamprey River Bowhunter's league was held. So, Kevin Laliberte, being a member of CRGC and a member of Lamprey River got together with Phil Lyons the President of LRB approached the members and BOD of CRGC to approve the combined club winter league.
The league usually starts around the second or third week of January and is open to Chester and Lamprey members. Compound and traditional bows are welcome. Scoring is done on a handicap basis similar to golf. The cost is $60 which goes toward supplies and a banquet at the end of the league. All remaining monies goes back to CRGC.
The first night for 2012 is Tuesday, January 17th at 6:30 pm. Sign up will be in the CRGC club house. Tuesday, January 24th will be first night of live fire. The league will run for 12 weeks with 2 weeks of make up in case people miss a couple of nights. This will bring us to April 11th which will be the last Tuesday of shooting. The cost will be $60 for the entire league with a banquet some time soon after the league ends. The $60 fee needs to be paid within the first 2 weeks of the start. Unfortunately, we have limited space so, sign ups will be limited to 18 people done on a first come first serve basis. Recurve or compound bows are allowed. Scoring will be done on a handicap basis so the novice shooters among us stand as much of a chance as anyone to win the league.
